This week I want to talk about ways to enhance your water for your next outdoor activity or exercise sessions while providing your body much needed nutrients using Nuun products (pronounced ‘noon’). They specialize in electrolyte replacement products that can give you more energy, stamina and lesson recovery time when exerting yourself without tons of added sugar or alternative sweeteners.
We all know the importance of staying hydrated. Especially in hot, dry climates. I find plain old water bland and personally hard to drink if not cold unless I am extremely thirsty. In the past I would normally use a sugary powder to flavor my water so that I could still drink it even if warm. Then I found a better way.
Nuun
Nuun is my go to brand because they have so many flavors across a range of categories with both tablet and powder formats. I’ve been using them for the past seven years for long-distance cycling (25-100 miles in a day) and hiking/backpacking adventures.
Hydration tabs
Their hydration tabs come in plastic tubes of 10 that are water resistant to keep them dry. I always have a tube in my backpack and keep one in my car’s emergency kit as well. I keep several more tubes on the shelf for everyday activities. Their compact size make it easy to carry and each tablet is made for 16 oz. of water (enough for a standard size bottled water). It takes 2 tabs for my 32 oz. water bottle. They dissolve in a matter of minutes and provide just enough flavor to the water to make it more refreshing while providing nutrients to my body without all the sugar of other products. I tend to drink flavor enhanced water during and after my activities, but you could certainly also drink it before.
Powders
I have not tried their powder products yet but imagine they are just as effective. The one plus is they dissolve instantly where the tabs take a few minutes to dissolve. The powders can come in canisters or a box of single serving packets.

Their website is sale focused but there is other information about their products and community. You can order products off their website or find it on store shelves everywhere. They do offer a 15% discount when you create a monthly subscription with them.

If you haven’t tried Nuun before, I highly recommended doing so. I know there are other players in this space but none with the variety of flavors and blends for specific situations.
